Principal's Corner Greetings Riverside Families,
I hope this message finds you all doing well. We are heading into parent conference season. Please be on the lookout for information from your child's teacher regarding scheduling. Conferences are an opportunity for you to discuss your child's progress toward meeting grade-level expectations. Please make every effort to attend and share any information that will help the teacher to better support your child. I hope you will join us for our Pep Rally and Halloween Parade on Friday. It is always wonderful to celebrate our students and their many accomplishments. This time we'll do it with costumes! Please read below for information about the week ahead.
Warm regards, Ms. Richardson |

| School Communications Please do not opt out of our communications system. This is an extremely important way for us to communicate with you about emergencies, upcoming events, and information that is important for you to know. If you are not signed up for the LAUSD Parent Portal, please do. Families can access attendance records, Schoology, grades, test scores, and more. Beginning this year families will need to digitally sign field trip slips and this can only be done on the Parent Portal or LAUSD App. If you need your child's student ID number and parent pin, please contact Ms. Allen in our school office 818-990-4525 or a.allen@lausd.net. We will also be offering a parent workshop for those who might need additional support on Friday, November 7 at 8:30am. More details will be sent home soon. You can also access a job aide here for written directions. |

| Dr. Rocky's Heath Corner What to do if your child has lice? Almost all children at some time will get lice. They are attracted to clean hair. The good news is they don't fly and can't live off a human host for more than 48 hours. Lice can only be spread by close contact and sharing personal items such as hair accessories and clothing. Here are some tips if your child does get lice: - There are many over the counter treatments available - Wash pillows, clothing (that has been worn in the last 48 hours), stuffed animals and bedding in hot water. - Vacuum rugs, fabric sofas, and other areas that might have had contact with lice in the last 48 hours. - For the No-Panic Guide to Head Lice click here
Flu Season is Here At school we encourage our students to wash their hands frequently. Medical professionals agree that is the best way to prevent flu and colds. Here are some more tips: - Teach your children to cover their mouth and nose when coughing or sneezing - Wash hands with soap and water for at least 20 seconds - Avoid touching eyes, nose and mouth - Get enough sleep, eat well and exercise - Click here for more tips from CHLA

| Halloween Parade & Pep Rally Friday, October 31 at 8:15AM on Main Yard Please join us for our Pep Rally and Halloween Parade. Parents may enter and exit through the Huston Gate. At this month's Pep Rally we will honor our students who have Rocky UP by "Owning Their Actions." Right after our Pep Rally we will begin our Halloween Parade. Please see the flyer that was sent home. As a reminder there is no place for the students to change or get ready, so all students must come to school in their costumes. They may wear clothes underneath if they wish to take off their costume after the parade. Students need to wear school appropriate shoes the entire day, may not bring weapons (even toy ones) of any kind, and wear masks only during the parade. We are asking that all families stand behind classes so our students can see their peers. If you are volunteering after the parade you must exit the school through the Huston Gate and go to office to collect your badge and sign in. |
